Butterley Bears is owned by Mary, who was taught to sew at a young age by her mum and has always lived to get creative. Butterley Bears is born out of that creativity as well as an affection for traditional teddy bears. Mary still has her teddy from when she was a young girl; it was loved so much that it lost it's nose and had to have a new outfit sewn on by her mum to cover the worn out holes. Of course Mary loved it all the more after her mum's TLC.
In her late teens/early twenties, Mary started adding traditional mohair teddies to her 'hug' of bears, bought from local artisans. Butterley Bears is the natural blending of these hobbies.
Teddy sewing is still just a hobby and not Mary's main source of employment, so this is a slow-craft process (her bears are sewn by hand) which means it may take a while to up date these pages and release details of new collections. But remember that well known phrase: "Good things come to those who wait". 😉
